Background

RESULTS was founded in the USA in 1980 and started in the UK in 1986. The organisation now operates in over 15 communities in the UK.

The aim of the organisation is to create the political will to end global hunger and poverty, and break through the thought “I don’t make a difference”.

Results uses community education via monthly telephone conference calls and shows citizens how to lobby their MP to end world hunger.
Results say:-

  • that 20 years ago, 35,000 children were dying each day from preventable hunger
  • today these deaths have dropped to 24,000 a day
  • the main cause of these deaths is that the poor have no money to buy the food that’s already plentiful

Results groups use self-teaching techniques to master information that addresses hunger, poverty and related issues. Group members share that information with their elected representatives, the general public and the media, aiming to gain support for effective programmes and proposals to end hunger and poverty.Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at members’ homes or using Skype.
